Its splendid panelled rooms contain fine furniture, tapestries, antiques and an important collection of Tudor portraits, regarded by historian David Starkey as ‘one of the best collections of Tudor portraits after the National Portrait Gallery’. Two beautifully illuminated prayer books on display in the Book of Hours room belonged to Anne Boleyn and bear her inscriptions and signature.
Set in 125 acres of magnificent gardens, from the majestic formal Italian Garden and topiary, to the informal meanderings of the lakeside and Sunday Walk. No matter what time of year you visit you are guaranteed a breathtaking display.
The Water Maze on Sixteen Acre Island and the Yew Maze challenge both adults and children alike! There’s a fascinating collection of Miniature Model Houses, Military Museum and a Garden Exhibition.
A varied programme of events is available throughout the year. Popular events include Dazzling daffodils, Tulip Celebrations, Hever in Bloom, Jousting, Craft Fair, Autumn Colour and Christmas at the Castle..
- all Castle visits will include a multimedia guide and is available in English, French, German, Dutch, Russian and Chinese. A children’s multimedia guide in English is also available. The multimedia guide lasts approximately 45 minutes
- Private Guided Tours of the Castle are available in English for groups of 15 or more.
- A ‘Hidden Hever Tour’ is also available for smaller groups of up to 15 people offering the chance to discover additional rooms of the Castle usually closed to visitors.
- Private Guided Tours of the Gardens are also available with one of our gardening team or with the Head Gardener.
